Competitions 18th February 2014

I have been entering a lot of writing competitions lately.

It is about the quickest way of getting noticed these days and the anticipation of the result makes the time pass more quickly.

Also, if you enter enough of them, your disappointment at not making the shortlist is soon forgotten as the deadline for the next one approaches.

Having said that it has not all been in vain. I recently won Fifty quid for a spoof rejection letter in the Freelance Market News monthly competition.

Cyprus 1954 4th December 2013

I am delighted to be able to announce a new commission. This is from a delightful man called Richard Chamberlain who has already published a book entitled ‘Cyprus Scenes and Way off Life in 1954’.

Richard and his twin brother Michael were posted to Cyprus as National Servicemen in 1954. This was quite an important date as it was literally just before the EOKA campaign began and Cyprus was plunged into the nationalist strife between Turkish and Greek Cypriots that lasts to this day.
