Cyprus 1954

I am delighted to be able to announce a new commission. This is from a delightful man called Richard Chamberlain who has already published a book entitled ‘Cyprus Scenes and Way off Life in 1954’.

Richard and his twin brother Michael were posted to Cyprus as National Servicemen in 1954. This was quite an important date as it was literally just before the EOKA campaign began and Cyprus was plunged into the nationalist strife between Turkish and Greek Cypriots that lasts to this day. Richard was a self taught but very gifted photographer and has produced a unique collection of photographs that show the island just before it all descended into chaos.

I am to put some words behind the pictures and we look to have something ready for next year which will be the 60th aniversary of his tour.
